Yeah I’m aromantic, asexual, and agender, but you know what else I am? I’m aerodynamic. Anxious. Angular. Aromatic. Alien. Aimless. Aching. Ancient. I’m not a triple A battery, I’m an elevenfold A battery and counting.

People truly underestimate closeted aro, aces and aroaces because in a world predominated in romance and sex, one so ingrained as these universal things in our society, whose to sure gonna believe us when we come out?
Sure in some ways, we do have certain privileges over other sexualities like from my experiences, I have seen homophobic kids in my school, two classmates next to me even joking about throwing rocks at gay people, yet weren't bothered by me being aroace or "asexual" as they call it (they either don't know aromantic or make that 'aerodynamic' joke whenever i mention it) but that doesn't mean aro, aces and aroaces don't share experiences with the lgbt because we do. For one, our parents are from an older generation that withholds love and sex as important things humans must have so they expect us to experience that same thing, and dismiss us when we go against that. And especially if you have homophobic or 'supportive' parents that are ironically homophobic, they'll definitely assume you were brainwashed somehow (e.g internet) and either try to 'convert' you or give you an unjust punishment just because they refuse to learn from things prior to their years. From the lack of recognition with aro, aces and aroaces (especially aros/aroaces), people won't believe us when we say who we are. Even in my examples of privilege, I didn't tell those homophobic people that i was specifically aroace, just that I wasn't interested in anyone romantically/sexually because I was worried that they'll judge me and put me as one of the gays to get hit by rocks.
The point is, being aro/ace/aroace is extremely isolating. It makes it even harder to come out when you know the world still doesn't understand you, still doesn't accommodate for you and still doesn't even recognise you. Even in our own community, we are isolated from the dominant nature of love and sex. Aromantics particularly are the most isolated as ace and aroace is starting to become more recognised, yet aromantics are always seen being left out because of how the lgbt community and outside of it heavily prioritize love; saying it makes you 'human', saying that 'everyone feels love', alienating those within our own community.
You can't say that aro, aces and aroaces aren't apart of the community when we share the experiences you guys have experienced and still experience. Were just different. Just like you were and are.

Aroace
I figured out through realizing that I'm not attracted nor desire anyone romantically/sexually. My aroness was discovered before my aceness for me.
I've seen some representation regarding aroaces and aces like lilith from toh (aroace) and todd from bojack horseman (asexual) and it was really nice to see. I haven't seen much representation. regarding aromantic people though, I did research it at one point but I haven't seen those types of medias yet. I wish aros got more recognised in media because it always seems like were left out in a way.
Yes, I definitely did. Main reason was my age since I was questioning my sexuality 2 years ago being aroace along with questioning if I was lesbian or bisexual (despite not being into women or anyone apart of finding them pretty). I only found out last year since it's been 3 years as a teen and I still don't feel any nor desire any romantic/sexual attraction (hell i didn't know kids my age were dating or having sex cuz it wasn't on my mind since then) and it still continued even when i considered myself old enough to experience it now so why not?
Nope, mainly because I'm closeted to my family. I'm more public in school where classmates keep making the old 'aerodynamic' joke whenever I bring up me being aro though but no one seemed to mind. Plus my friends are queer too and they support me which made my experience better.
I think I would come to terms with my sexuality more earlier if I had that kind of representation as a kid (especially aroace kids) since I feel like I would resonate with them in a way.
Aroace makes sense for me because stuff like sex and romance weren't even on my mind throughout my whole life, I just never seemed to care for it. Plus there's nothing wrong with being aroace and how it can be for anyone at any age, children can be aroace just like straight or gay kids. They won't be miserable or need fixing just because their not into romance or sex and it's definitely not a phase. You may fallen in love or had sex in a later time but that's not for everyone, with 8 billion people on this planet, why not assume theirs someone out there who never fall in love or want to have sex? Those are basically what I have to say.
Hi it's Hampter and I got questions for aroace indivdials or aro and ace peoplle.
I am doing research project for school about rep for aroace people in the film industry but I would like some of everyone's opinions.
I can't use our aroace experience blog as a source because I didn't actually "interview" them. All quotes will be anonymous unless you give me a fake name that I can put down.
What do you identify as?
When did you figure out your sexuality?
What representation do you see in today's world concerning aroace individuals?
Did you struggle with coming to terms with your sexuality?
Did coming to terms with your sexuality hurt any aspects of your life? (Friends, family, relationships etc)
Do you think you would have benefited seeing characters in tv shows/movies growing up if they had aroace characters?
Is there anything you would like people to know about what being aroace means to you, or anything you would like to say about it?
You can answer all of them or some of them. You can DM me or reply in the comments.
Hugs!<3

Pongorma species brain storming except I never give it a name so it’s hard to talk about them. Maybe I’ll name them Red Horns (self explanatory).
They are descendent from aquatic mammals who evolved to live on land more than in the water + became more humanoid to fill opportunistic niches.
Their horns are remnants of their past ancestors who sacrificed being aerodynamic for better defense from predators. Their bright colors were also a warning because it’s their electricity that were their defense, not stabbing with their horns. Their horns were a good way to channel electricity (like the nodes of a taser gun). After the mass extinction, they had no major predators so their horns became decorative. Females also have horns, but they aren’t as ornamental. The fur on red horns became longer and less water proof as they became less dependent on water and needed to stay warmer and keep young warm.
Pongorma as an individual is special when compared to the rest of the species. Pon devoted himself to being a knight because he showed great skill in gestural combat. He could channel lightning through his hands instead of horns, which made his horns not very important (plus they were heavy to have on his head). He later cut his horns and dawned a helmet. Him removing his horns (which are a sign of being a fit mate) could be seen as him signaling to others that he isn’t interested in a mate. 🤷 pongorma is aromantic/asexual? Him cutting his horns doesn’t have to mean that tho, it’s just food for thought.

no that’s aerodynamic. Aromantic is when you’re a member of Greek hero Jason’s crew.
Aromantic? Like a candle that smells good?

Delia: You don't seem to be hanging out with Lydia much lately.
Beej: Yeah... I'm kind of in trouble with her...
Delia: What happened?
Beej: Well I saw online she was lesbian so I tried to set her up with some other goth girl.
Delia: *eyes widen* Oh no...
Beej: How the hell was I supposed to know she was aerodynamic!?
Delia: Lawrence, it's aromantic! You're lucky she didn't stab you!
Beej: . . . She tried.

Mikan, Ibuki, and Mondo’s best friend coming out to them as aromantic
Tumblr media
It’s not a bother at all! This one was pretty interesting to write.
Warnings: A pinch of swearing during Mondo’s part
Tumblr media
-Mod Ibuki <3
❈ Mikan Tsumiki ❈
“A-aromantic? What does that mean?”
“It means I don’t desire a romantic relationship,” you explain.
“Oh, okay. That makes sense.”
She’s totally cool with it, though I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t be.
Mikan understands that platonic love can be more important than romantic love.
I mean, you’re her best friend!
And she loves you, no romo.
❈ Ibuki Mioda ❈
Wait, you’re...aerodynamic?
Not even a smidge of dynamic?
That is so cool!
Sometimes platonic love is all the love you need! You don’t need no man, or woman, or anyone!
You’re Ibuki’s best friend, she loves spending time with you.
Since you're aro, she doesn’t have to fight with your partner for your attention, so that’s totally poggers!
❈ Mondo Owada ❈
“Okay, so basically, um...I’m aromantic.”
Mondo blinked. “That’s cool.”
“...You’re okay with that?”
“Sure. I don’t see why I wouldn’t be.”
“Well, some people don’t think that I’m...normal.”
“And some people are fuckin’ idiots.”
You giggled. Mondo always managed to make you laugh. Maybe that’s why you initially wanted to be his friend. “Thanks, Mondo.”
“I’m serious, if anyone tries to say anything bad about you, I fucking swear, I’ll-”
“Mondo, no! That’s not necessary!”
